I am very grateful for the wisdom...
I am very grateful for the wisdom that guided Mrs. Eddy to make provision in the Manual of The Mother Church for Christian Science Sunday Schools. Early training in the Sunday Schools of different branch Churches of Christ, Scientist, has given me a precious trust in and conviction of God's allness, nearness, and immediate availability.
At one time in my childhood there was a small flurry of winter playtime accidents occurring at school. A few of the children had, at different times, fallen in play and broken an arm. Our schoolteachers' efforts to instill more caution and care into our play by reminding us of what had happened to others implanted a good deal of fear in the general thinking.
As a result of this hypnotic fear I fell, while playing on some newly formed ice under a light fall of snow, and broke an arm. I remember clearly realizing at the moment the incident occurred that if I had not been so afraid this might happen, it would not have happened.
