Church Dedications

Auburn, Alabama (Society).

Christian Science Society, Auburn, will dedicate its church building on Cary Dr. Sunday, according to an announcement from the society's executive board. A special dedication service will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday and the public will be welcome, the announcement said.

The history of the Auburn church goes back to the spring of 1924 when friends and students from Alabama Polytechnic Institute, interested in Christian Science, met in the home of a practitioner to organize a Christian Science group. On June 8, 1930, the group was recognized as a Christian Science Society by The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Mass. An upper room was rented over the Bank of Auburn in August, 1930, and services were held there continually until July, 1961. Sunday School was organized in 1936 and the first lecture was given on Feb. 6, 1936.
