Readiness to Serve
The opportunity to share the knowledge of God's goodness through the teachings of Christ Jesus, as revealed in Christian Science, brings blessings not only to the visitor to a Christian Science Reading Room but also to the librarian. The librarian's position is both challenging and rewarding.
Patience and loving consideration are shown each one who visits a Reading Room. Sometimes it may be just a smile or a "word in season" (Isa. 50:4), other times it may be a brief conversation at the counter. The worker takes advantage of every opportunity to help the guest who expresses a need.
What a privilege it is for a librarian to offer the truth which heals and enlightens! His own demonstration of his true identity as God's child is of paramount importance in filling the office of librarian and in helping the visitor to see himself in the light of man's real relationship to God. The librarian wisely turns the inquirer to the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health, with joy, enthusiasm, and confidence, for he knows that this book provides within its pages the answer to every human need.
