The month of June signifies the end of the academic year for many Christian Science organizations at colleges and universities in the northern hemisphere; however, for the organizations in the southern hemisphere, activity continues in full because of a different school calendar. The many Christian Science students and faculty in all these organizations work faithfully each year to improve the moral and spiritual culture in their environment. They are mindful of the emphasis placed upon constructive academic study by the Discoverer of Christian Science and the Founder of our Church, Mary Baker Eddy. They also recall her words, "If the Bible and my work Science and Health had their rightful place in schools of learning, they would revolutionize the world by advancing the kingdom of Christ" (No and Yes, p. 33).
Today the varied activities of college organizations are helping to revolutionize world thinking "by advancing the kingdom of Christ" in the halls of learning. Inspiring weekly testimony meetings are conducted on the campus by the students; challenging and thoughtful lectures are sponsored; there is active participation in various inter-religious programs; literature is tactfully distributed; lending libraries and study rooms are maintained; and, most important of all, our students are daily demonstrating the efficacy of the Christ, Truth, in their own experiences. A number of new organizations in Europe, South Africa, and North America have been listed in The Christian Science Journal in recent months.
This constructive and enlightening work in the schools of learning has been encouraged by The Mother Church through the College Organization Division of the Department of Branches and Practitioners. The College Organization Division continues to conduct workshops and seminars at several hundred different universities in the Field each year; the following excerpts are taken from organization reports received by this office.
