Many years ago I was given up by four prominent doctors when I was suffering from peritonitis in its last stages. My own doctor said I might live from half an hour to two hours.

A girl friend of mine came to the room after the doctor had gone and asked me if I would like to try Christian Science. She said that she did not know anything about it, but she had heard that it healed. I agreed to try it, and she called a practitioner. The practitioner asked that I come to the telephone. My friend explained that I had not been out of bed for more than three weeks. The practitioner still said that she would like to speak to me. So my friend helped me, and I managed to reach the telephone, which was some distance away down a long hallway.

The reward was great. When I left the telephone I was healed. I did not see the practitioner. I was at once well, and joy and energy returned immediately. It was a surprise to the doctor to see me happy, well, and about my business.
