Deafness in one ear was for...
Deafness in one ear was for some years a source of considerable inconvenience to me. However, Mrs. Eddy's reference to "the 'divine ear'" on page 7 of Science and Health was a constant help to me in working out this problem. She writes: "The 'divine ear' is not an auditory nerve. It is the all-hearing and all-knowing Mind, to whom each need of man is always known and by whom it will be supplied."
The fact that what belongs to God now is man's now as God's reflection was impressed upon me. I knew too that "the all-hearing and all-knowing Mind"—"the 'divine ear' "—was the only one with which I needed to concern myself in my prayerful metaphysical work. I also saw how necessary it was to see mortal mind's suggestions as powerless beliefs if I was to be healed.
