My mother and I were introduced...
My mother and I were introduced to Christian Science when I was a young child. It was immediately accepted as our way of Life. Though it was a number of years before I became a member of a Church of Christ, Scientist, I am grateful for a mother who was a stanch church worker for many years and who kept my feet on the upward path.
What was perhaps my most important healing took place a good many years ago. Though I always carried a Bible and a copy of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy wherever I went, I had strayed quite far from what they teach. I was smoking one cigarette after another.
One day I picked up Science and Health and began reading. I must have read for about two hours. When I laid the book down, no particular passage stood out to me; but my thought had become so enlightened with the truth that I promised myself I was really going to study Christian Science and learn all I could about it. This yearning for holiness at that moment replaced my desire for tobacco. I have not smoked again.
