My introduction to Christian Science...

My introduction to Christian Science came over twenty-eight years ago, when I was very ill, having been unconscious most of the time for nine days. The doctor attending me proposed that I should have an operation as a possible help, but he could give little assurance of its success.

The family with whom I was living at this time were interested in Christian Science, and I learned that healings are accomplished through prayer alone in Science. I was assured that this religion could heal me; so I decided to dismiss the doctor and ask for Christian Science treatment from a practitioner. The practitioner began prayerful work for me one Thursday, and by noon on the following Saturday my bodily functions were normal. I soon regained my strength and the weight I had lost.

Since then I have had many other healings; but more important than these is the change that has taken place in my thinking. Christian Science has opened a new world to me. Resentment, selfishness, criticism, envy, and many other false traits of character have been overcome to some degree as I have learned more of God and have tried to express the loving, spiritual qualities that man, made in His image and likeness, must express. Christian Science is a joyous way of Life. It does meet all our needs, as I have found, and it never fails us if it is applied correctly.
