At a time when our family was experiencing illness, lack, and inharmonies of all sorts, a friend offered me a copy of The Christian Science Journal. A few days later I had an impelling desire to visit a Christian Science practitioner, having learned about practitioners for the first time from the Journal. I have never forgotten the spiritual light that came to me from that visit.

I listened carefully as the practitioner talked of God's love and of His tender care and protection of His children. The authority and conviction with which she spoke led me to believe that here was the God I had not known but had always longed to know. My hope soared, and my spirit was strengthened.

As I left she gave me a copy of the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. It became my constant companion. I carefully pondered the ideas presented therein and welcomed each unfoldment as joyously as one greeting a long-awaited friend. The ills and fears —the extreme nervousness, moodiness, melancholy, and sense of insecurity—that had bound me began to fade, and there was such a change in my attitude that my family and friends noticed it. My husband soon joined me in my study, and other members of the family became interested in Science. What a privilege it is to share this wonderful truth with those ready to receive its blessing!
