When I entered college several...

When I entered college several years ago, I did so with the attitude that I was a mediocre student expecting to receive nothing more than average grades. Even then I would have to put in many hours studying. It was not until my junior year, when I was placed in two positions of leadership, that the need for a change in my thinking was evident. If I was to progress and conquer the problem of low grades, I must begin to study Christian Science, which I had neglected to do. I had known of Science for about three years then, but had applied it only in times of illness.

I eliminated fear and doubt through the daily study of the Bible Lesson, published in the Christian Science Quarterly, and through specific periods of prayer before examinations. Knowing that the perfect man, as a child of God, truly reflects infinite intelligence, I listened for divine direction. In the classroom when unexpected quizzes were given, as well as in announced examinations, I held to the clear statement from the Bible (II Tim. 1:7), "God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind."

Improvement was seen as these tests were handed back to me with better grades. The fruit of the whole experience was evidenced in the final high marks, which placed me on the dean's list!
