RADIO PROGRAM No. 441 - Taking Off Human Shackles

SPEAKER: Most of us cherish our individual freedoms very highly— our freedom to think rightly, act rightly and to serve a useful purpose in our homes and communities. But perhaps some, like our guest at one time, may not realize how an enlightened understanding of God can bring freedom from physical bondage. For instance, through this understanding Mrs. Parker Terryberry of Grand Rapids, Michigan, found her freedom from a physical condition which had limited her activities and restricted her usefulness for many years.

MRS. TERRYBERRY: When I was a child I used to wonder how Jesus healed, but I never could get any answer except that it was in the Bible. When I grew older I became very skeptical and decided religion wasn't for me. I just wasn't interested in what I thought religion had to offer. But at a time when I was in great physical distress, my husband, who knew something of Christian Science, pleaded with me to try it. I did, though very reluctantly at first.

I'd been having trouble with a painful and crippling condition for about four years. It had been getting steadily worse, and finally it was diagnosed as arthritis of the spine. I had to wear a metal corset and special shoes. It seemed to me it took about fifteen minutes each night to swallow all the pills I was supposed to take, and even then I couldn't sleep.
