I am very grateful for an experience I had years ago. I had earlier been healed of asthma through Christian Science treatment, but the condition manifested itself again sometime later. I asked the practitioner why I had to go through the experience again, and I learned that when one has been healed, it is because there has been a measure of yielding to spiritual truth.

But I still had to be healed of the fear of other people's thoughts about me, which fear, I was told, is a form of superstition. I had to learn two important lessons before the complete healing came. The first one was that in reality no person can give me anything or take anything from me, because God alone gives man everything. The second one was that I must not force my will, no matter how good my intentions are, on my loved ones. This healing message helped me greatly (Isa. 12:2): "I will trust, and not be afraid."

Although the healing took a few months, I realized that I was having an opportunity to grow-in spiritual understanding. I regained the weight I had lost during that time, and now I am well and strong. I am very grateful for the loving help of the practitioner and of the nurses at a Christian Science nursing home where I stayed for a few days during this experience, and where my healing was completed. I am grateful too for the love expressed to me by my dear fellow church members.
