[The words in this issue are related to the Lesson-Sermon in the Christian Science Quarterly designated to be read in Christian Science churches on March 4, 1962.]

Gabriel (Luke 1:26)

(ga'bri-el—a as in ace, i as in is, e as in silent). An angel described in the Old Testament as charged with the ministration of comfort and sympathy (see Dan. 8 and 9). In the New Testament he is the herald of good tidings, declaring the coming of the Messiah and of his forerunner, John the Baptist.
