Nearly thirty years ago sciatica, from which I had repeatedly suffered, was quickly healed through the prayers of a Christian Science practitioner. Since that time I have had the happiness and privilege of studying Science daily and of experiencing its blessings in rich measure, and I have a deep feeling of gratitude for it.

The help I received through Science when my mother passed on was outstanding. My mother was not a Christian Scientist. When I was called to the hospital to see her the following thoughts came to me: In reality she is not my mother and I am not her child. In truth we are both children, or spiritual ideas, of God, divine Mind, and what my mother seems to be experiencing here is the Adam-dream, which has never touched her actual spiritual self.

When I was told on the following day that my mother had passed on, I was able to remain calm. I felt no sadness whatsoever and no suffering. Even as a child I had been so strongly attached to my mother that I had often thought that when she passed on I could not and would not want to go on living. I had really been afraid of this day in the future. And now that day had come, and I had no grief. On the contrary, I had been privileged to learn that Life is God and therefore eternal; that man reflects this eternal Life and hence can never lose it. This enlightenment had been brought about solely through Christian Science.
