When I was a schoolgirl, I...
When I was a schoolgirl, I came home one day with severe pains in my back. I remembered that I had a paper on which a friend had copied for me "the scientific statement of being" from page 468 of Science and Health In Mrs. Eddy. She had recommended that I memorize it. Knowing that she had been healed in Christian Science, I wondered if her religion could help me. I tried to understand what the statement really meant. As I thought about each sentence, including the one which says, "Spirit is immortal Truth; matter is mortal error," some revelation of the truth must have unfolded to me, for when I had finished I was entirely free from pain.
I was so happy and grateful that I felt I must know more of what Science teaches of God. I began going to a Christian Science Sunday School; this was a great help to me. After a few years I married a student of Christian Science, and together throughout the years we have proved many times the truths contained in "the scientific statement of being."
