At the birth of our daughter...

At the birth of our daughter, she bore every evidence of being what is called a blue baby. The doctor and nurse in attendance did what they could to induce body warmth and normal heart activity, but with no success whatever. Several hours later the nurse came to me, saying that the baby was much worse and that she feared for her life.

I had no fear and asked the nurse to telephone the Christian Science practitioner who had been helping me. He began prayerful work at once. Not more than twenty minutes later the child's breathing, for the first time, became quiet, and she fell asleep. She slept through the night, and when the doctor came the following morning he found her rosy pink, warm, and normal in every respect. There was not the slightest indication of heart trouble throughout her vigorously active childhood or later when she excelled in swimming and dancing.

Another healing that inspires and uplifts my thought every time I recall it is the complete healing of grief and of a feeling of loss and separation when my husband passed on. In this experience the truth remained with me that in reality nothing was happening or could happen but the unfoldment of Truth and Love. I was borne as if on wings over any sense of shock and emotional upset, and I moved in peace and calm.

Christian Science has been my religious faith, my physician, and my way of Life for about forty years, and adherence to its rules of practice has brought great peace and joy, as well as numerous physical healings for my family and me.

I feel as though I can never be grateful enough to God for Christ Jesus and his life and works, and for Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, who placed in our hands the demonstrable rules for doing works similar to those that Jesus did, even the greater works which he promised that we should do.

Through Mrs. Eddy's scientific interpretation of the Scriptures, every adherent of her teaching can daily learn how in some measure to heal the world of its ills, its wars, its poverty, hunger, and loneliness, by consecrated, scientific prayer, and I am immeasurably grateful for the steadily rising number of those who are consistently performing this work. —(Mrs.) Ann Rymer Ormes, Nashville, Tennessee.
