It is a wonderful privilege to have...

It is a wonderful privilege to have always known Christian Science. As I was growing up, I was so protected that I was never faced with a major problem. As I left the house each morning, these words were repeated to me (Ps. 121:8): "The Lord shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore." And also these words were said (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, Pref., p. vii): "To those leaning on the sustaining infinite, to-day is big with blessings." Even when there was no one to say them to me, I would say them to myself and think about them.

After I was married and had a family, I was presented with an opportunity to apply my understanding of God. Our youngest child, then a year old, awoke one night fitful and feverish. As I picked him up, his movements so alarmed me that I called my husband. He took the child from my arms and told me to call a practitioner. She was called and began prayerful work immediately.

My husband held the child because I was too afraid to do so. I read aloud from Science and Health. Within a half hour the little one's spasmodic movements had subsided, but his condition was not completely normal.
