As one trained in and, for some...
As one trained in and, for some time, professionally practicing the natural sciences, I find the supreme logic and utter practicality of Christian Science to be two of the salient features which set it apart from orthodox Christian religions. That Christian Science can bring healing from illness or inharmony is to me a fact proved beyond doubt by many examples of positive healing.
A serious and painful condition of poisoning in the leg yielded completely to the understanding of man as Love's reflection, who cannot be affected in any way by such elements of mortal mind as criticism or hatred.
More recently, my wife and I experienced a particularly convincing proof of the healing power of the Christ, Truth. A heavy beam, suspended between two trees, formed the bar of a swing for our children. During one bout of particularly violent swinging by our eldest daughter, then about seven, this beam was dislodged and fell on her head, causing a severe gash. She behaved very well, with few tears, and turned readily to God for help, as she had learned to do at home, at Sunday School, and in the school for children of Christian Scientists which she attends. Although the gash was large, the temptation to have stitches inserted was resisted, and the wound was simply cleaned and covered lightly.
