Christian Science is so precious...

Christian Science is so precious to me that I feel I cannot find words adequate to express my appreciation of it. I grew up with the idea that sickness was my natural lot and consequently spent most of my time in doctors' offices.

While I was hospitalized in 1952, the doctor informed me that I had cancer and that he did not think I could live more than six months. Somehow I resented that statement, and when they wanted to operate on me, I prayed as best I knew for God to show me the right thing to do. That night these words came to me (Matt. 6:30): "O ye of little faith," and (Matt. 21:22), "All things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive."

The following morning I told the doctor exactly what had happened and said I felt sure God was going to take care of me. So I refused to be operated on and asked to be released from the hospital that day. The doctor was very nice about it and explained that they were trying only to do the best they knew for me. I thanked him and made arrangements to leave.
