My first healing in Christian Science...

My first healing in Christian Science, about thirty-five years ago, was that of tuberculosis and took place after I had been bedridden for a year. My approach to Science was hardly in anticipation of healing, but rather to help me survive a two-week vacation period announced by the attending physician.

I was very fearful, but a testimony of the healing of tuberculosis which I read cited a Bible verse that gave me great courage. It reads (Isa. 41:10): "Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness."

A telephone inquiry to a practitioner resulted in my receiving Christian Science treatment. In less than two weeks I was going downstairs to meals with the family; I had not done this for a year. No member of my family had any knowledge of Christian Science, but I was learning the healing value of gratitude. Some months later I returned, fully healed, to full-time secretarial employment, which continued until my voluntary retirement a few years ago.
