Christian Science was presented to me when I was in a state of deep despair due to illness. X-ray pictures which were shown to me had confirmed the medical diagnosis of a growth in my stomach. I had been told that surgery was imperative.

At that time I believed myself to be an agnostic. I scoffed at a friend's efforts to persuade me to try Christian Science. But in order to be able to discuss the subject intelligently and to prove to my friend that his beliefs were valueless, I consented to read Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy and to see a Christian Science practitioner.

The surgical operation was never performed. Because of the need of other tests, it had been scheduled for four weeks thence. But during this short time my health so greatly improved that I did not return to see the physician. Soon thereafter I knew that I was completely healed. I started attending a branch Church of Christ, Scientist, and began the earnest study of Christian Science.
