After my mother had been through three major operations and the doctors had said she could not live, she was healed by reading Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. At that time I was a child, and we lived in the country more than fifty miles from the nearest Christian Scientist.

Christian Science was of great help to us when my husband's store burned. My first thought when I learned of the fire was that God is the spiritual man's only source of supply, and I did not yield this stand. We had kept the account books in a fireproof safe; but we found that there had been a burglary before the fire, and the safe was standing wide open and empty.

I called a Christian Science practitioner in a distant city, asking for help. As he spoke to me, I gained a conviction that all was well.
