I wish to express my gratitude for being reared in Christian Science. From earliest childhood I have always found it natural to turn completely to God for the answers to all my problems.

On the Sunday morning following one Thanksgiving Day, I awoke with a painful and swollen foot. The condition proceeded to grow steadily worse until finally I was unable to walk without assistance. A Christian Science practitioner was called on for help that evening, and within two hours most of the swelling was gone.

In the Glossary of Science and Health, Mrs. Eddy gives this definition (p. 586): "Fear. Heat; inflammation; anxiety; ignorance; error; desire; caution." I had allowed myself to become quite fearful and anxious because of overdue bills and because there seemed no material way to provide a happy Christmas for our three children and our other loved ones.
