The Healing Atmosphere of Truth

"No vainglorious boast, no pride of circumstances has place within the sacred confines of this sanctuary" (The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany by Mary Baker Eddy, p. 37). The Clerk of The Mother Church in this statement was referring to the edifice of The Mother Church Extension, but the statement applies equally to every Christian Science Reading Room. In the healing atmosphere of these Reading Rooms, many people are experiencing the peace which comes from laying aside the fettering beliefs of material sense—their false fears, pride, conceit, resentment, hate, envy, selfishness and the like—for the freedom-giving truths of Spirit, God, which heal, comfort, adjust, and satisfy. This is in accord with Jesus' teaching: "If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free" (John 8:31, 32).

Through study of the Bible and of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, individuals coming to these quiet sanctuaries are becoming acquainted with their true selfhood as God's children and are learning of their heaven-bestowed harmony.
