For several years I had been extremely ill each winter. I had to keep to my bed for weeks at a time because of a cough and high fever. A number of doctors had been consulted, but not one was able to help me.

Then one Wednesday evening I attended a service in a branch Church of Christ, Scientist. The readings and the testimonies made a deep impression on me. I felt that I was standing on the threshold of something which would change my whole life. From the friend who had taken me to church, I got the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. I read it every day, and many of the pages I read over and over again. I attended regularly the Sunday services and the Wednesday evening testimony meetings, and I was a frequent visitor at the Christian Science Reading Room.

In the spring some friends who were not students of Christian Science said to me: "This past winter you were not in bed a single day. And you haven't had any cough!" That was the case, but I had not noticed it myself. That was seventeen years ago, and the healing took place solely through the study of the textbook. This wonderful healing has been permanent.
