I am truly grateful for Christian Science and for the many healings we have had in our home since our mother was healed in 1904.

My first healing came when I had been studying Science only a few weeks. The difficulty was an eye condition that was painful and was also evident to anyone who looked at me. The thought came to me: "You ought to pray about this. Prayer in Christian Science heals." But this was followed by the suggestion, "You do not yet know how to pray according to Christian Science."

However, I decided to try to pray; but instead of asking God to heal me, as I was at first inclined to do, I found myself repeating a verse from the Christian Science Quarterly Bible Lesson for that week, "He is the Rock, his work is perfect: for all his ways are judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is he" (Deut. 32:4). Then I thought: "What is the use of asking God to do what He has already done? His work is perfect." The only prayer I could form was to say: "Thank You, dear Father, for letting me know about this." I must have had an immediate healing, for I soon found that not only was I free from any discomfort but that all the evidence of the condition had disappeared.
