My wife, my children, and I have all been lifted from chaos, poverty, and apathy to new heights of abundance, joy, and fulfillment through our study of Christian Science. The belief in the reality of sin, sickness, and death is giving way before a spiritual understanding of our Father-Mother God and of His perfect reflection, the spiritual, unchanging man.

On one occasion our younger daughter began to cry during the night. She said one of her ears was painful, and the evidence was a little startling. My wife and I both turned in prayer to God and encouraged our daughter to do likewise. In the morning the pain was gone, and all appeared to be well. However, later I discovered she could not hear the tick of her watch with the ear which had been affected. Further prayer on our part restored the hearing in that ear.

A few days later the other ear became painful in the night. This time, after we had gained a still clearer understanding of God's law, the pain yielded quickly, and there were no aftereffects. There was no more difficulty with either ear.
