I was reared in a Christian...
I was reared in a Christian home, and before coming to Christian Science I had read the Bible through once but with little understanding. Since taking up the study of the truth in the light of this newly revealed Science and reading its textbook several times, I learned to love the Bible. The spiritual import of the Word of God unfolded gradually and became clearer to me. Statements heretofore seemingly inconsistent took on new meaning.
Many adjustments in my life had to be made at that time. While searching for this truth, I was led, through God's guidance, to prepare for a different vocation. If I was to do so, it was necessary for me to move to another place and to find more remunerative work, since there was also a need to contribute toward my mother's care.
When the day for making the change drew near and nothing desirable had been found, I turned for help in my extremity to a Christian Science practitioner. I shall always remember this wonderful statement from the Bible which he gave me over the telephone (John 14:2): "In my Father's house are many mansions.... I go to prepare a place for you."
