Hollis, New York (First Church).

Dedication services of First Church of Christ, Scientist, Hollis, New York, will be held on Sunday, May 8, at 11 a.m. and 4 p.m....

This church is a branch of The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts. It had its beginnings in 1934, when a group of interested Christian Scientists met to discuss formation. Services were held in Hollis Masonic Temple. In July, 1936, the group was recognized by The Mother Church as a Christian Science Society.

The society's change of title to First Church of Christ, Scientist, Hollis, was recognized by The Mother Church in August, 1938. Services were continued in Hollis Masonic Temple until a private dwelling at 88–48 One Hundred and Ninety-third Street was purchased in 1947. After necessary changes, the first services were held in this church building on November 2.

The membership of First Church of Christ, Scientist, Hollis, is profoundly grateful to all who supported them in making the dedication possible.—Queens County Times (April 28, 1960).
