"Teach me to do thy will"

Spiritually minded individuals often pray in the words of the Psalmist (Ps. 143:10), "Teach me to do thy will." But do they truly understand God's will, and are they ready to accept it as an invariable guide? Do they follow His will as fully as they should or could?

Mrs. Eddy says in "Miscellaneous Writings" (p. 208), "Mortals have only to submit to the law of God, come into sympathy with it, and to let His will be done." And on the same page she asks, "But who is willing to do His will or to let it be done?" and goes on to say, "Mortals obey their own wills, and so disobey the divine order."

In Christian Science one learns what God's will is, and Science requires its adherents to follow strictly God's directing law. It presents the invariable eternal truth that God's will constitutes His purpose, His perfect law of harmony for His creation. God's will is spiritual, perfect, and exclusively good. His will is eternal and universal in application. It is complete. It is not something that is to be done sometime; in reality it is already done.
