Listening for God's Voice

Today specially trained astronomers have their instruments pointed toward possible planets on which there may exist human life. These experts are listening for signals that may be reaching for similar evidence on the planet, earth. There is as yet no evidence of either human life on other planets or of any kind of voice sending out messages. But the listening continues.

Of one thing we can be certain: that God is forever speaking and that His voice may be heard of men.

From earliest times in Scriptural history, there were those who were attuned to the divine voice by their fitness to hear it and to carry out the responsibilities which this fitness entailed. Patriarchs and prophets advanced the human race in its salvation from the false, mortal sense of life by their willingness to listen for the Word of God and their ability to convince mankind of the truths they heard. Because Christ Jesus was in constant communion with God, he could say (John 8:26), "I speak to the world those things which I have heard of him."
