Over the years I have been continually grateful for my aunt, who nourished my early study of Christian Science and took me to the Christian Science Sunday School, and for my mother, who recognized what Christian Science was doing for me and then permitted me to be enrolled as a pupil. I am also grateful for the strength, tenderness, wisdom, generosity, and other Christlike qualities that have been expressed toward me by my husband, who became a student of Christian Science after our marriage.

About two years ago, I had an experience which immeasurably deepened my appreciation of and gratitude for my religion and its spiritual method of healing. For five months I stayed with a loved member of the family who was very ill and who was under medical care because she was not a Christian Scientist. I asked for help from a Christian Science practitioner to aid me in rejecting from thought the false beliefs and medical predictions. The constant prayers of the practitioner lifted my thinking so far above the medical atmosphere and into the consciousness of real being that I could do what needed to be done with tenderness and fortitude.
