With this motivating thought, the Scientist voiced the spiritual fact that God is good, and all that He made is good. "Therefore," he continued, "that which is not good, such as sickness, He did not make." Then he added, "Since God did not make sickness, it is not real and need not be submitted to."

The friend, looking up at him despondently, retorted: "How do you expect me to believe that sickness is not real? Am I not confined to bed as a result of it? And I am unable to arise because I lack the strength to do it."
