OVERCOMING TIME

Mortal belief declares that man is clothed in material flesh, that he lives in a material dwelling place, and that this material habitation is located in a material universe. Because this material picture took time to be evolved, mortal belief uses the argument of time as evidence to support what it declares to be true.

Christian Science, with its revelation of the truth of being, exposes the lie, the utter fiction, of time. In "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," Mary Baker Eddy states (pp. 468, 469): "Eternity, not time, expresses the thought of Life, and time is no part of eternity. One ceases in proportion as the other is recognized. Time is finite; eternity is forever infinite. Life is neither in nor of matter. What is termed matter is unknown to Spirit, which includes in itself all substance and is Life eternal. Matter is a human concept."

Since time does not and cannot exist in eternity, it is no part of the deific Mind, Spirit. Likewise, matter, the opposite of Spirit, has no place in the divine creation, since it is not conceived or developed by God. Because there is in reality but one Mind, this Mind or infinite divine intelligence must be the intelligence or consciousness of man; therefore the real man, God's idea, is as unconscious of the evidence of matter or the passing of time as is the divine Mind.
