Right Decisions in the New Year

When we think in terms of God and His laws—creative and productive—we look forward with confidence to a new year and new opportunities. Placing emphasis on spirituality, with the keen perception it makes possible, we shall be able to hear a word behind us, saying, "This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left" (Isa. 30:21). Our decisions will then not be left to mere human judgment; they will be made under divine impulsion.

Dependability, a God-derived quality, is necessary to success in any undertaking. It keeps one firmly established on the road of duty as it is pointed out to him by Truth. One who is really dependable, who listens to the inner voice of conscience, would rather incur censure than to compromise on points of morals and ethics.

What are often called intangibles, the moral and spiritual values that more than anything else determine the worth of our efforts, are greatly needed. The difference between right and wrong is not merely academic. That is why the integrity of those who make decisions, and those who execute them, is as important to a sound analysis of a business or an institution as are financial statements and approved accounting techniques.
