The early religious training of many of us has been to the effect that man is a mortal, whose trials and tribulations in human experience purge him of sin and prepare him to enter heaven through the gateway of death. Christian Science assures us that man is not a mortal sinner and that death, a negation or seeming absence of life, is not the way to everlasting Life. It shows us how to overcome cruel tribulation and death through spiritual law, and it is this positive action rather than mute suffering which frees from mortality.
