I attended the Christian Science Sunday School from early childhood to the age of twenty. However, until recently I had taken for granted the magnificent protection I experienced. Through childhood I was usually protected from disease, accident, and other inharmonies. When these errors did come into my experience, healings were rapid.

It was not until my husband and I were buying a house that I began to study in earnest and to appreciate more fully what I had been taught. When we were taken through the first house in our search, I felt strongly that this was our place. However, since this was the first one we had looked at, I allowed myself to think that we should look around a little more in order to be sure.

When we had decided that this was indeed the house for us and talked with the owner, we were told that someone else had just taken an option on it. I was heartsick and asked a practitioner for help. She recommended citations from Science and Health for study, and I gained much help from an article in the Sentinel entitled "What Makes a Home?"

I received a higher concept of home when I realized that it included love, security, comfort, harmony, beauty. Shortly thereafter the owner of this same house called us to say that the other people were being transferred to another locality because the husband had received a promotion, and the house was ours if we still wanted it.

The following year our child was born under harmonious conditions. I had decided the baby should be born at home, had engaged a Christian Science practitioner and a Christian Science nurse, and had begun prayerfully to study what Science teaches with regard to creation. The law required that arrangements be made to have a licensed person present at a birth, and it seemed to take a little time to work this out. There was only one doctor in this area who had delivered babies at home. I went to him, but he stated that he did not do home deliveries any more. However, he recommended that I try someone closer to my home.

The practitioner and I reasoned that we could take no useless steps in working out a Christian Science demonstration and that this visit must have had a purpose; therefore I should do as he had recommended. I looked in the telephone book, chose the closest doctor to me, and went to him. He agreed to deliver the baby and remained understanding throughout.

I had no difficulties before the birth, and there were no aftereffects. During this time and since, the paragraph under the marginal heading "Scientific obstetrics" on page 463 in Science and Health has been a great help to me.

I am grateful for the practitioners, for the nurses, and for membership in The Mother Church and in a Christian Science Society. I am just beginning to realize what a wonderful heritage Mrs. Eddy has given us.—(Mrs.) Hope Powell King, Bradfordwoods, Pennsylvania.

I wish to verify my daughter's experiences. Both were wonderful examples of the healing and redeeming power of the Christ, Truth. I also wish to express my gratitude for all the good that has come to me in the thirty-six years that I have been studying Christian Science.

Membership in The Mother Church and a branch church and class instruction are still bringing me much joy and give me a sense of real purpose and service in everyday living.
