Through my understanding of Christian Science, I have had! many physical healings. I was left alone with four small children, and for twenty-two years I was in business and did not miss a day from work on account of illness.

I owned and operated a small restaurant in Western Canada. One Saturday night there was no money to pay the week's wages to my seven employees; my rent was six months in arrears; and I was hundreds of dollars in debt. Seven years previously I had had the same problem, and a very kind relative had taken up a mortgage on the business and had paid all the outstanding bills. I did not attempt to borrow again, nor did I wish to do so. I most earnestly desired to make my demonstration in Christian Science.

I was familiar with a passage quoted by Mrs. Eddy in Science and Health which says (p. 96), " 'The darkest hour precedes the dawn.' " I thought: "It is so dark; this is the darkest I have ever known. The dawn must be very near." And it was. As I prayed that night I began to see that God does not ever use money. He uses His qualities, and I knew that I manifested those qualities. I fell asleep and had a good night's rest.
