"THE HARMONY AND IMMORTALITY OF MAN ARE INTACT"

In his last discourse preceding the crucifixion Christ Jesus said to his disciples (John 14:27): "Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid." In the midst of pressing problems and in the face of the experiences which lay ahead of him, Jesus could speak of the peace of God, which lay deep in his heart, and of his desire to share it with his disciples. How inspiring and comforting are these words of the Master, for in Christian Science we learn that they truly apply to all men!

What is the nature of this peace which so fortifies our lives that we need never succumb to fear or inharmony when it knocks at the door of our hearts? This true sense of peace and fearlessness is the enduring harmony which one experiences when he acknowledges and holds fast to the basic truth of Christian Science, namely that man, the son of God, is forever inseparable from his creator, divine Love. Peace, fearlessness, harmony of thought and action, are eternal and indestructible qualities of God, and they belong to man by right of his inheritance as God's child.

Mary Baker Eddy writes in her book "No and Yes"' (pp. 10, 11), "Eternal harmony, perpetuity, and perfection, constitute the phenomena of being, governed by the immutable and eternal laws of God; whereas matter and human will, intellect, desire, and fear, are not the creators, controllers, nor destroyers of life or its harmonies."
