When I was quite a young girl, the healing power of Christian Science was brought to my notice very forcibly through witnessing the healing in a few weeks of a very disfiguring case of cancer of the face. But I was not at that time ready to accept its teachings.

However, some years later, despite a loving husband, two lovely children, a happy home, and comfortable circumstances, I was overwhelmed by an intense resentment against the evil and cruelty of so-called natural laws and the God who I had been taught had made those laws. The result of this thinking was that my health began to give way until a most distressing nervous condition was manifested.

Healing and enlightenment were sought through materia medica and through my church, but no comfort or help was available. The arguments of orthodox Christianity did not seem to me to be logical and failed to arouse my faith in any essential good in God.
