Almost twenty years ago, in a troublous hour, I turned wholeheartedly to Christian Science. I was not seeking a physical healing for myself, although I was in need of healing. Before I had finished reading the chapter on Prayer in Science and Health by Mary Baker Eddy, I was healed of poor vision which had bothered me for as long as I could remember.

For three weeks I read this textbook constantly, going over and over that which I did not understand. I attended every service at a nearby branch Church of Christ, Scientist, and did not miss a Christian Science lecture within a hundred miles of the town where I lived. A Christian Science practitioner showed me how to study the weekly Lesson-Sermon, given in the Christian Science Quarterly, and patiently answered all my questions.

During this period of spiritual growth, I had several physical healings. Later, when a severe testing time came, I was firmly grounded in the truth, and my faith and understanding remained unshaken.
