North Miami, Florida (First Church).

Dedication services, to which the public is invited, will be held at 9.30 and 11 a.m. and at 3 p.m. on November 2, in First Church of Christ, Scientist, North Miami.

In the year 1937 several students of Christian Science began working together to establish in the northern part of Dade County a branch of The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts. On September 19, 1937, a group attended a meeting in the Community Hall of Biscayne Park to take the necessary steps toward organization.

The first service was held on Sunday, September 26, 1937, in the Biscayne Park Community Hall, and on September 8, 1938, the group was recognized by The Mother Church as Christian Science Society, Biscayne Park.

[The society's change of title to First Church of Christ, Scientist, Biscayne Park, was recognized by The Mother Church on February 15, 1945. Later the church voted to move to North Miami, and on September 9, 1948, it was recognized by The Mother Church as First Church of Christ, Scientist, North Miami, Florida.]

The building of the church auditorium was started on January 2, 1952, and on Monday, May 19, ...the cornerstone of the church was laid. On June 22, 1952, the first services were held in the new edifice.

There was continued growth; so on September 5, 1954, two Sunday morning services were instituted, one at 9.30 and the other at 11.00 with two Sunday School sessions held simultaneously.

...At this time grateful acknowledgment is made to all who have helped to make the dedication possible.
