Mrs. Eddy writes (Message to The Mother Church for 1902, p. 17), "When mortals learn to love aright; when they learn that man's highest happiness, that which has most of heaven in it, is in blessing others, and self-immolation—they will obey both the old and the new commandment, and receive the reward of obedience." The reward of obedience to the injunction to bless others has been mine.

A friend of mine was left alone when her husband passed on, and I did what my time permitted me to do to aid in her readjustment period. One of my services consisted of accompanying her to a business office for the purpose of investigating a pension. It quieted her confused thought to have me stand by. Meanwhile, I took mental notes of the informative data which the official gave her.

Five years later, when my own husband passed on, the information I had received while helping my friend enabled me to establish my eligibility for a pension and to obtain it. God's love was manifested in the unselfish devotion of my son and his wife, in the many practical ways in which my brother-in-law expressed Christlike love, and in numerous signs of protection.
