Keynote Message from the Board of Trustees of The Christian Science Publishing Society

We as Trustees of The Christian Science Publishing Society extend to you a cordial and heartfelt welcome.

It is the privilege of those who serve at headquarters to know something of the devotion which you and others in the Field have toward the Cause of Christian Science. This knowledge comes from your continued support of the periodicals, the fervent letters received in appreciation of an article or series in our daily newspaper, or some Lesson-Sermon in the Christian Science Quarterly which has been particularly helpful and healing. It also comes from our realizing that your presence here at Annual Meeting time may be the result of long planning and sacrifice in order to relate yourselves more closely with this great onward, spiritual movement arrayed against the seeming forces of evil in the world.

This desire to be aligned with good and identified as active Christian Scientists indicates the nature of your dedication and what it brings in return. In welcoming her beloved members to the Annual Meeting of The Mother Church fifty-seven years ago, our revered Leader addressed them as follows (Message to The Mother Church for 1900 by Mary Baker Eddy, p. 15): "To-day you have come to a sumptuous feast, to one that for many years has been awaiting you. The guests are distinguished above human title and this feast is a Passover." As we gather here in the spirit of her words, every sacrifice we have made for the Cause becomes a sacred offering in the full meaning of the word, and every service to each other, a privilege.
