To express my gratitude to God for the many blessings and healings I have experienced through the study of Christian Science, I offer this testimony. My first healing took place over forty years ago when I was in a sanatorium suffering from dropsy and inflammation of the kidneys. I was placed on different diets and given hot baths, but after several weeks I showed no improvement. In fact, I lost so much weight that I could scarcely walk, and I became very much discouraged.

At this time a friend who was a student of Christian Science lent me a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. After reading this book a few days I began to feel that there was some hope for me and that I needed to change my way of thinking and living. In a short time my health improved to such an extent that I was given permission to return home. Some months later when I was given a checkup, I was told that I was normal again.

However, I did not continue the study of Christian Science at this time. Several years later I failed in business, and my efforts to acquire another business of my own were unsuccessful. I was becoming very much discouraged; so I sought the help of a Christian Science practitioner. He told me that my greatest trouble was self-pity, and I realized that he was right. As soon as I overcame this trait, I was able to make a trade for a small business of my own, in which I have been successful.
