James was a boy who learned through Christian Science that God is Love and that He heals all our diseases. Every night when his mother put him to bed he said a verse for little children by Mary Baker Eddy, which his mother had taught him (Poems, p. 69):

"Father-Mother God,
Loving me,—
Guard me when I sleep;
Guide my little feet
Up to Thee."
