It is with a grateful heart that I...

It is with a grateful heart that I give this testimony of the power of Christian Science to heal inharmonious conditions. In "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy we read (pp. 472, 473), "We learn in Christian Science that all inharmony of mortal mind or body is illusion, possessing neither reality nor identity though seeming to be real and identical." Some time ago I had a most trying experience, during which I had the opportunity to prove this statement by our Leader, Mrs. Eddy.

I was attacked very suddenly by a distressing condition in the abdomen. Not having had a diagnosis of any sort, I cannot name the malady, but suffice it to say I suffered excruciating pain. I called a Christian Science practitioner for treatment, which she gave immediately. My husband was away from home at the time, and I was alone. Friends and neighbors were very anxious to help, but we soon saw the need of a Christian Science nurse, and one was engaged. Upon my husband's return home, he asked if I were sure I had all the help I needed. He is not a student of Christian Science; but he was very helpful and patient and was willing that I should have Christian Science treatment.

My healing required some time, and at times I felt almost discouraged. But I was reminded that Mrs. Eddy encourages us to contend persistently for the truth, and I tried to do so. I felt that the healing was accomplished even before the physical manifestation of its completeness was evident. Even after I let the nurse go and dispensed with the services of the practitioner, the condition tried to assert itself again, but I held fast to the truth. A short time later the physical condition showed marked improvement, and soon a complete victory was won.
