I am grateful that my parents...

I am grateful that my parents enrolled me in the Christian Science Sunday School at the age of eight, for it was there I learned of an incorporeal God who is divine Principle, Love. And I learned how to use this divine Principle in every phase of human experience. When I reached the older children's class, I became a member of The Mother Church. Later I also became a member of a branch church. I have served as a Sunday School teacher over a number of years, and my son is now a pupil in the Sunday School of our Christian Science Society.

One healing which stands out as a constant source of inspiration to me was that of a leg infection which had rendered me helpless. A Christian Science practitioner visited me every day. During this experience I was able to devote my time to quiet study, and I awoke early each morning to read the Christian Science textbooks, the Bible and "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures'" by Mary Baker Eddy.

One morning I awoke early as usual and turned to the much-loved passage (Science and Health, pp. 515, 516): "Your mirrored reflection is your own image and likeness. If you lift a weight, your reflection does this also. If you speak, the lips of this likeness move in accord with yours. Now compare man before the mirror to his divine Principle, God. Call the mirror divine Science, and call man the reflection. Then note how true, according to Christian Science, is the reflection to its original."
