CHRIST IS RISEN!

Throughout the world on Easter morning there will be heard in sermon and song and on the lips of countless Christians the glad words: "He is risen!" "Christ is risen!" What is the meaning of the resurrection morn to Christian Scientists? It sets forth the great demonstration of Jesus in proof that death is not a reality but an illusion to be rejected as unreality. His resurrection establishes forever the fact that the individual has inherent dominion over the belief that life is in matter and is controlled by mortality.

In Christian Science, the resurrection stands for the spiritualization of human consciousness; the gaining of new and clearer views of God as Spirit and of man as God's perfect expression; it means the surrender of mortal, material beliefs to spiritual concepts of creation. Therefore, when the Christian Scientist says, "Christ is risen," he really indicates that Christ, Truth, the nature of true manhood, has become clearer to men. And this has been accomplished not only through the demonstration of Jesus, but also through the understanding and demonstration of Christian Science in individual experience.

The true resurrection is not fundamentally physical; it is spiritual. Jesus' body was resurrected and restored to its normal activity as the result of the Way-shower's continuous spiritualization of thought, particularly while his enemies thought he was dead in the tomb.
