"BLESSED ARE THE POOR IN SPIRIT"

Clothe me in Your spirit, Lord;
my own is worn and thin.
Its fabric lacks substantialness,
and I am cold within.

It glistened when I wore it first,
a gay and flashing thing.
But it has lost its showiness,
and I am shivering.

I seek a better garment now
of more enduring stuff.
Clothe me in Your spirit, Lord;
it will be warm enough.
